North Korea continues to make headlines, arousing curiosity and fear in equal measure. To accompany the publication of his new book, leading expert and commentator Paul French will be discussing the country’s history, politics and relationship with the world in a talk at our Chelsea branch. He will be in conversation with Harriet Evans, professor of Chinese Cultural Studies at the University of Westminster .

As an already unstable North Korea grows ever more unpredictable, North Korea: State of Paranoia delivers a provocative and frightening account of a potentially explosive nuclear tripwire.

‘Paul French writes with wit, eloquence and rare clarity about the complicated history of North Korea.’ – Barbara Demick, author of Nothing to Envy: Real Lives in North Korea
