Q: What do Sylvia Park and Angelina Jolie have in common?

A: They were both honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list announced on 13 June.

In the Diplomatic and Overseas listing, within the list of those honoured with an MBE, there is the following:

Mrs Sylvia Chong-Ae Park, Events secretary, Anglo-Korean Society. For services to strengthening links between the UK and Korea.

Sylvia marks 20 years as BKS (formerly AKS) Events Secretary this year. Without her energy and dediction, the BKS would not be the organisation it is. One of her coups was to get the North and South Korean ambassadors in the same meeting at the House of Commons, together with the UK’s ambassadors to Seoul and Pyongyang.
