King Arthur

For me, I suspect this month’s highlight will be Gamin’s appearance at the Spitalfields Festival on 15 June with Notes Inégales. A bit of free improvisation on the saenghwang, with a band which includes a daegeum among other things… what’s not to enjoy, particularly if you catch the same group’s reimagining of Purcell’s King Arthur immediately beforehand…

Film

  • The Priests screens at the Picturehouse Central on 2 June, performing a double function as the second of the KCCUK’s “teaser” screenings for the 2016 LKFF, and as the curtain-raiser to the two-day film conference at Kings London.
  • The KCCUK’s other screenings are Hahaha on 16 June and Singles on 30 June.

Music

Exhibitions

  • Lee Kang-hyo’s exhibition of buncheong ceramics continues at Sylvester Fine Art for another two weeks
  • The KCC will be holding an exhibition of contemporary architecture projects in Seoul, linked to the Art Talk presentation, entitled Existing City / New Resource, opening on 2 June.
