Vase: Meditation - Dream IV

Glazed stoneware, by Choi Sung-jae (born 1947), 2004.
A low, squat vase in a shape known in Korean ceramics as a "rice bale bottle" because it resembles a bundle of harvested rice stalks. A creamy coloured liquid clay is dirst applied to the vessel’s surface. A spontaneous decoration is then worked into the wet surface with a brush, in the East Asian tradition of ink painting
