It’s been so long since I did a round-up of celebrity news, and nowadays my knowledge of what’s hot in the celebrity world is derived from looking at my site’s statistics where I can identify the google search terms which have landing people on my blog. ((And why do they end up here? Because of my blogwatch pages which grab the headlines and opening paragraph of articles from other blogs more diligent than me in following the celebrity news. I win, because I see what’s interesting people, and the other bloggers win because I direct the traffic their way )) So here is a collection of random stories from the past few months

Banish your Monday blues
03-Sep-07
Two little items to brighten your Monday.
First, if ever you thought the TV in your particular country wash trashy, just be thankful they haven't plumbed the depths of "Racing Model Billiard Championship".
"This is a sport I really would like to see catch on," comments the Party Pooper. "Some geniuses over at the Xports channel have rounded up the hottest racing models, put them in their usual skimpy outfits and got them bending over pool tables in a billiards tournament. As for how well the girls play pool, let's just say the quality varies."
Check out the video on the site linked above. Anything to give us a break from Big Brother. There's also a fine gallery here, with some samples ...
It's a while since I did a round-up of celebrity news, which means that I've almost forgotten all the things I was going to mention, and lost most of the links that I was going to use. So before things get completely out of hand, here's one of my not-so-regular posts shamelessly plundering the celebrity blogs.
1 Bada
After my recent post defending Bada against the assaults of Popseoul I exchanged a few emails with the Popseoulites. They don't have an issue with her singing ability, just her sense of style. I'm coming round to their way of thinking, based on one of their more recent posts.
A weird vision. And the singing ability? Well, I've now listened to Made ...
Photos keep celebs in the news
26-Mar-07
Our lives would be so much more drab without the occasional celebrity pic to cheer us up. So thanks are due to the paparazzi, the lads mags, the celebrity bloggers and, not least, the celebs' own PR teams, for adding spice to our daily fare. Here's some recent and not-so-recent pics.
1 Kim Yun-jin: Spot the difference
Kim Jun-jin's photos from Arena last year have been recycled into March's Maxim magazine. I hope she got the fee twice over. I must say that she looks more comfortable in Maxim. Given the fact that photographers seem to think that models look better if they're put in a wind tunnel, the blue tones on the Arena cover make you think she's going to ...
Celebrity news round-up: January 07
09-Feb-07
Rain, LKL's man of the year 2006 has started 2007 on a low-note with a speeding ticket in Hong Kong at the start of his gruelling tour. He also underwhelmed one reporter at a Singapore press conference who found him just a little dull. This wasn't a reflection on his performance on-stage (and I've yet to find any proper reviews of these): more that, given Rain's broad portfolio of interests and abilities the reporter thought he should have had something a bit more interesting to say. If anyone finds a review of any of his World Tour gigs, please let me know. Meanwhile, here's a pic of his Malaysian gig, courtesy of Popseoul:

What are YOUR albums of the year, in any genre (the more indie the better)? I really want to know what's good out there. My buying is a bit random at the moment, and focused mainly on back catalogue when I can get it.
Of the limited number of 2006 albums I've listened to (see the hyperlinks above), Vibe (ë°”ì´ë¸Œ - right) is certainly the best. ...
Of Ostriches and Royal Warrants
18-Dec-06
Why is it newsworthy to call someone an ostrich? The obvious answer, particularly when the person who's being called an ostrich agrees, is that it isn't. But when it's heart-throb Jung Woo Sung calling TV soap princess Kim Tae-hee an ostrich, it's an excuse to publish their photos and mention their upcoming film "Joongchun" or "Midheaven", in which Jung plays an exorcist and Lee his phantom love interest. The Chosun duly obliged, and so shall I:
And in another article this week the Chosun highlighted the number of models who are making it as TV actresses. Cue another opportunity to show some nice pictures. The model actresses concerned are Kim Seon-ah, Song Seon-Mi, Han Go-eun, Han Ye-seul, Han Ji-hye, Hyun Young, ...
Hyolee on Men’s Health cover
01-Aug-06
Last week someone accused this site of being professional and serious. I know it was probably meant as a compliment, but I realise I haven't posted anything about Lee Hyolee recently. I spotted this in the Chosun recently, and I'm hoping my friend Hye-sook has taken the hint and will bring me back a copy from Korea.
While trying to find the article again I came across a rather fun tabloid website covering Asian gossip, Asianbite, which has a section dedicated to Korean celebs. The post on Hyolee contains an image gallery (sample to the right), but unfortunately not the Maldives snaps from Men's Health. Following some links I came across a more dubious site. Because of the title of the ...
Two updates on recent stories
27-Mar-06
Lee Hyo-lee has decided that discretion is the better part of valour, and has withdrawn performances of her single which allegedly steals from Britney's work. And the Jeon Ji-hyun vehicle Daisy, in its third week in circulation, has now plummeted out of the box office top ten.

Korean protests baffle Belgians
23-Mar-06
I can't put it better than the Chosun Ilbo's own headline. One of the more peculiar stories.
In fact today's Chosun is packed with entertaining stories: Britney Spears's songwriters accuse Lee Hyo-lee of plagiarism; and a sex survey by pharmaceutical company Bayer finds Korean men the most selfish in bed.

Hyo-lee goes for gold
23-Sep-05
Any excuse to post a photo of Lee Hyo-lee. I don't care whether she can sing or not, and can't comment on her urbane charm (a quality possessed by most female K-pop stars, if you believe the blurb at YesAsia).
Hyo-lee Goes with the 'Gold Look'
Chosun Ilbo, Sep 27, 2005
Korean pop star Lee Hyo-lee chose the "gold look" as her fashion code for this fall. In an advertisement for the women's casual wear brand GGPX for this fall and winter, Lee showed off her mature femininity and sexiness with a glamorous look and gold items.
The advertisement photos were shot in an art club in New York in July. Lee wore "micromini" hot pants to emphasize her feminine and sexy look, and ...
Sorry to be a bit tabloid, but I just had to preserve this article from the Chosun Ilbo, which illustrates the Korean obsession with plastic surgery.
