Entry forms: more Korean artists in London

We’ve just seen the work of 40 young Korean artists on show at the Bargehouse in SE1. I commented at the time that there are still more than that in London. And here are some more of them.

Back in June this year the KCC, in collaboration with the British Council issued a CALL FOR ARTISTS requesting Korean artists in Britain to write in with samples of their work, and an independent curator has reviewed the submissions and selected her choice.

And still we haven’t exhausted the full population of Korean artists in Britain. We’ll see some more of them next year (I can think of one, possibly two other exhibitions in early 2009 with different artists). Meanwhile, here’s the info for the KCC’s upcoming exhibition, which opens on 9 December.

The British Council and the Korean Cultural Centre UK are pleased to announce “Entry Forms: UK Korean Artists”.

The exhibition attempts to capture a sense of the diversity of works produced by Korean artists living in the UK. It presents work by fourteen different artists selected by the British Council and the Korean Cultural Centre through an open call to artists. All have responded to their new environment in different forms; whether it is by scribing their experiences or performing to us on a screen, a common interpretation of place carries through the show. Each artist brings a unique and individual interpretation to what it means to live here today; and as a result helps those of us who live here to re-examine our own experiences.

The exhibition is curated by Emily Butler and Stephanie Seugmin Kim. A specially commissioned booklet designed by Language of Form will accompany the exhibition.
