Samulnori is a Korean percussive art genre, originating from Nong’ak (farmers’ band music) and comprises four instruments: janggo (hour-glass drum), buk (barrel drum), jing (big gong) and kkwaengwari (small gong).

Founded in 1978, SamulNori, later re-named SamulNori Hanullim, led by Artistic Director and master percussionist Kim Duk Soo not only sparked a renaissance in Korean traditional performing arts but has also expanded its musical boundaries from the traditional to the contemporary, performing on over 5,500 stages around the world.
