Sarangbang repaperingConservators from the Hirayama Studio in the Department of Conservation and Scientific Research will be re-papering the Museum’s sarangbang, a traditional Korean scholar’s studio.

Every day, conservators will be available to discuss their work and answer questions between 12.00 and 12.30.

In traditional Korean homes the windows, doors, walls and ceilings are covered with white Korean paper called hanji, which serves as insulation. When the paper gets dirty or is damaged, it needs to be exchanged.
