Korea Design: Innovative Design through Advanced Technology
Design in Korea is like the rest of the world’s in the fact that it all started from the interest, insight, and passion for our everyday objects. But what really sets Korean Design apart is that it pursues and perseveres in technical experiments. Korea’s design industry values the innovations in materials and technicalities as the most important part of design itself. New materials and techniques not only transform the object, but introduce a whole new way of coexistence between the people and the environment: this heterogeneous combination of materials is the driving force behind innovative design. The diverse varieties of new design with this kind of experimental mindset will be showcased in the KOREA DESIGN Pavilion at the 2010 100% Design London.

The Exhibition Representative of Korea’s Identity
The KOREA DESIGN Pavilion in the 2010 100% Design London is a modern reinterpretation of Korea’s identity, showcasing the sense of “glocalization”. Things like Korea’s own traditional architecture, Han-ji and Hangeul help to represent Korea’s design DNA. The installation and space for Korea’ s traditional architecture add to the openness and depth, and Korea’s traditional paper called Han-ji delivers the sense of texture and liveliness of nature. And last but not least the Korean alphabet Hangeul, which has turned to represent the culture of Korea itself, is also shown in the exhibition.
