A Little Nightmare Music
Friday 9 March, 2012
7.30pmProgramme:
You have to see and hear them to believe it! Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo are two classical musicians who have taken the world by storm with their unique and hilarious theatrical shows, combining comedy with classical music and popular culture.
Equally comfortable performing in classical concert halls, as well as in stadiums in front of crowds of 18,000, their unified dream is to make classical music accessible to a wider and younger audience.
“A Little Nightmare Music” is a unique show, full of virtuosity, enchanting music and zany, outrageous humour. Ideal for audiences of all ages, this show is sure to captivate whether you’re a classical music enthusiast or the type who runs for cover, at the mere mention of Mozart!
Aleksey and Hyung-ki met at the age of twelve, at the Yehudi Menuhin School and since then, have remained strong friends and writing partners. Following in the footsteps of comic performers such as Victor Borge and Dudley Moore, they created their first groundbreaking show, “A Little Nightmare Music.” Since then, they have performed with major symphony orchestras around the world and have played at some of the world's biggest stages and festivals.
The show includes music by Mozart, Rachmaninov, Bach, Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven, Igudesman and Joo.
“The funniest show on music and the life of musicians I have seen since the great Victor Borge. I couldnt stop crying of laughter for the whole evening. Go see these gifted musicians. What they show is life at its funniest side. It isn’t just entertaining, it is hilarious!” (violinist Gidon Kremer)
