Violinist Joo Yeon Sir often includes English music in her recitals, and this Friday at Charlton House she will be playing two miniatures from that most English of composers, Elgar. The main items on the programme are Bach’s famous unaccompanied D minor Chaconne and Brahms’s lyrical second sonata. The Elgar pieces are Salut D’amour and La Capricieuse. Joo Yeon Sir is joined by Irina Andrievsky (piano).
Charlton House [Map] is said to be the finest and best preserved Jacobean mansion in the London area (according to the Greenwich Guide), and is 400 years old this year.
