Here are the events I know of for October:
Film
- This month the KCC focuses on Im Kwon-taek, with a 15 film retrospective at the BFI and the ICA, with a Q&A or conversation with the revered director himself at both venues
- The BFI London Film Festival has six Korean films, including Nameless Gangster (Yoon Jongbin) and In Another Country (Hong Sang-soo)
Exhibitions
- It’s the last chance to see Sung-hwan Kim’s amazing installation Temper Clay in the Tate Modern Tanks – ends 28 October
- It’s also the last chance to see Kim Dong-yoo’s portrait of the Queen at the National Portrait Gallery (the group show lasts until 21 October
- Lee Kang-wook has a solo show, Invisible Spaces, at HADA Contemporary, 4 – 26 October
- Bada Song has a solo show, Body and Shelter, at The Agency Gallery, till 20 October
- The KCC’s current show is Twin Town, till 24 October
- Hyunjhin Baik first UK solo exhibition at 43 Inverness Street, 4 Oct – 17 November
- And Sanghyun Kim has a solo show at Mokspace, 2 – 15 October
- Soon Yul Kang is showing some of her tapestries at Portland The Gallery until 31 October
- Hayoung Kim’s Eat All You Can finishes at the Hoxton Gallery on 4 October
- Meekyoung Shin’s equestrian statue is still in Cavendish Square
- Lee Jaehyo has a solo show, Transformations, at Albemarle from 11 OCtober
- James Freeman Gallery hosts Maximum City, a duo show including work by Hong Young-in, from 12 October.
Talks, classes, seminars
- Aidan Foster-Carter is giving his perspectives on the DPRK post Kim Jong-il at the LSE on 4 October
- There’s a topical talk on Dokdo, Historical Awareness, and Korea-Japan Relations at the KCC on 9 October
- KOTRA has an EU FTA seminar on 18 October
- Kiejo’s cookery classes are on 6 and 13 October
- SOAS starts its autumn season of seminars with Dr Andrew Jackson on 12 October and Vladimir Tikhonov on 19 October.
Music
- Yunhee Choi and Hun Ouk Park give a violin recital at the Steinway Studios on 11 October
- KAYA (the kayageum and guitar duo) perform at the Barn Theatre in Westminster, 20 Oct at 3pm
- Sarah Chang plays the Barber violin concerto at the Cadogan Hall on 25 October, with dates in Edinburgh (22 Oct) and Manchester (23 Oct)
Further ahead
- Brother Anthony will at the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival 2-4 November and London 5 November with Ko Un. There will also be readings in Oxford and Cambridge. More details soon

My understanding for this particular evening talk (assuming you mean the one on 4 Oct) is that you just turn up. I’m not an LSE member but I’d be there myself if there weren’t a couple of Korean art exhibitions opening that evening.
