LKL has long been a fan of Yi Sung Yol – his was one of our albums of the year in 2007. Jang Ki-ha & the Faces is a more recent arrival on the scene, and manages to be slightly retro yet at the same time refreshing. I’m not sure I would describe either artist as particularly “underground”, but the gig will certainly provide plenty of melody and enjoyment.
Kiha & the Faces + Yi Sung Yol
Thursday 20 June, 7:30PM
Scala, 275 Pentonville Road, Kings Cross, London, N1 9NLTwo of Korea’s best underground bands are united on the Scala stage as part of the K-Music 2013 Festival.
The night features Yi Sung Yol, a terrific singer-songwriter whose music has featured in a string of Korean films, and Kiha & The Faces, a hugely popular band led by singer and composer Chang Kiha, who turns Korean into a natural language for off-centre rock lyrics.
