K-music: Yi Sung Yol and Jang Kiha & the Faces at Scala, 20 June

LKL has long been a fan of Yi Sung Yol – his was one of our albums of the year in 2007. Jang Ki-ha & the Faces is a more recent arrival on the scene, and manages to be slightly retro yet at the same time refreshing. I’m not sure I would describe either artist as particularly “underground”, but the gig will certainly provide plenty of melody and enjoyment.

Kiha & the Faces + Yi Sung Yol

Thursday 20 June, 7:30PM
Scala, 275 Pentonville Road, Kings Cross, London, N1 9NL

Yi SungYol, Kiha The Faces

Two of Korea’s best underground bands are united on the Scala stage as part of the K-Music 2013 Festival.

The night features Yi Sung Yol, a terrific singer-songwriter whose music has featured in a string of Korean films, and Kiha & The Faces, a hugely popular band led by singer and composer Chang Kiha, who turns Korean into a natural language for off-centre rock lyrics.
