The Gangjeong campaign continues: the mayor speaks at SOAS

Following on from the informative documentary screening and thoughtful discussion at SOAS last Friday, the campaign against the Jeju naval base is lucky to secure a visit from the mayor of Gangjeong, to talk about the struggle. If the event has nearly as much impact as last Friday, this will be well worth going to.

Mayor Kang of Gangjeong Village

SOAS Save Jeju Island society is proud and excited to welcome Mayor Kang of Gangjeong village to speak on Tuesday October 15th.

Mayor Kang is a passionate and tireless campaigner against the construction of the huge naval base set to destroy the village and its coastal environment, and threaten peace in the region. He, like many other villagers, has been jailed and given huge fines for taking part in peaceful protests.

Please invite as many people as possible to what will be a great event, and a unique opportunity to talk with someone at the forefront of one of the most extaordinary peace movements in the world today.
