It’s always nice when things you’ve seen in London get coverage in the English language press back in Korea.
In May this year the Korea Craft & Design Foundation brought a number of Korean craftsmen to the Saatchi gallery, including master lacquer craftsman Chung Hae-cho. We heard at the time that the Victoria and Albert Museum had purchased a set of his lacquer bowls. Now the Korea Times reports that the British Museum has acquired the centrepiece of Chung’s display at the Saatchi gallery, a beautiful black lacquer vase.
In the same Korea Times article the hanji work of Been Kim is featured. Kim has exhibited her work at 100% Design London for the past two years, and also had a successful show at Maison & Objet Paris in France in early September this year.
