Join artist Leonard Johansson at Hanmi Gallery for a tour of his latest exhibition ‘Confessions of an Opium Eater’, a vibrant selection of site specific installations and paintings, followed by a drinks reception.

‘Confessions of an Opium Eater’ is open at Hanmi Gallery until the 27th of April, exploring the boundaries between reality and a dream-like, drug induced state. Escaping from reality through fantasy, drugs and visual heroism is a theme frequently examined in the works of Johansson. He explores extreme social subcultures, like those built up around heavy metal and the occult and delves into the artifacts and symbols of these themes, presenting them in a celebratory or satirical state. The resulting works are often made as site-specific installations filled with paintings and sculptures, created using materials such as oil paint, spray paint and ready-made objects. A sense of humour and playfulness is constantly maintained throughout his practice.
