ICONS OF RHETORIC, by photographer Chris Barrett & researcher Gianluca Spezza is an ongoing photo-literary project that explains and connects what North Korea presents to the outside world and how we interpret it.

The project translates images that North Korea shows in both domestic and international propaganda, while reflecting our own stereotyped view of the country, developing a narrative that gives credit to the idea of “reading” North Korea through its own discourse.
