Two British ambassadors will talk about the work of their respective Embassies, the UK’s current relations with the two Koreas, and current issues on the Peninsula.

Charles Hay took up his appointment in Seoul in February 2015. During his time in the Diplomatic Service he has also worked in British Embassies in the Czech Republic, in Spain where he was Deputy Head of Mission, and at the UK’s Representation to the EU in Brussels. In London he headed the team that ran the UK G8 Presidency in 2005. Prior to going to Seoul Charles was the FCO’s Director of Consular Services, based in London, responsible for assisting British Nationals and for FCO crisis management worldwide.
Alastair Morgan, Ambassador in the DPRK
Alastair Morgan took up his appointment in Pyongyang in December 2015. Immediately prior to this he was Britain’s Consul-General in Guangzhou. Previous roles include Director of Trade & Investment at British Embassy Beijing, two Investment and trade-related postings in Tokyo, and Director of Operations at the Invest in Britain Bureau in London. He also worked in Tokyo on loan to Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and as a Lecturer in English language and literature at Gakushuin University.
The Society was founded in 1956 to foster friendships between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea.
Its primary object is to bring together all those in the UK who are interested in Korean matters. The Society enjoys continual on-going support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea for all its activities.
