His hosts used an official dinner to score two foreign policy points over the Japanese:
One of the guests was former comfort woman Lee Yong-soo and the Japanese were said not to have appreciated it when Trump embraced her.
The main dish was grilled hanwoo from North Jeolla, marinated in 360-year-old soy sauce, and rice topped with shrimp from Dokdo.

A surprise visit to the DMZ had to be aborted because of fog.

But for once in his life Trump struck the right tone in his keynote speech – mainly because he stuck to the script which his experts had written. The full text is here, and analysis in One Free Korea here.
A DPRK foreign ministry spokesman responded to the speech by calling Trump an old lunatic. Trump responded thus:
Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me "old," when I would NEVER call him "short and fat?" Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!
