The Rose

The Rose (Hangul: 더 로즈) is a South Korean band formed by J&Star Entertainment. The band’s current line-up consists of four members: Woosung, Dojoon, Jaehyeong, and Hajoon. The band debuted with the release of their first single, Sorry, on August 3, 2017.

Dojoon, Jaehyeong, and Hajoon were part of a band named Windfall. Woosung joined the group half a year before their official debut under the name The Rose. The band’s name was chosen “to show music that coexisted with the beauty of flowers and the sharpness of thorns” according to the group’s leader, Woosung. Each member has a rose color and meaning which represent them: white for Woosung (purity), red for Dojoon (passion and enthusiasm), blue for Hajoon (miracle), and pink for Jaehyeong (happiness and romance).

They debuted on August 3, 2017 with their first single, Sorry. They had a comeback on October 31 with their second single, Like We Used To.

The group is known for its covers of many popular songs made before and after its debut. The four members write, compose and arrange their own songs.

Sorry was named one of the best k-pop songs of 2017 by Billboard on December 14, 2017

They hold their first solo concert The Black Rose Day on December 24, 2017 at the Mpot Hall in Seoul. On December 21, they announced their first Europe tour which will visit Brussels, Moscow, Istanbul, London, and Budapest.
