Message from The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames

It gives me great pleasure to send a message of good wishes to the “Kingston celebrates Harvest Fest” event on the 22nd September 2018 in the Ancient Market Place. The Royal Borough of Kingston has the largest Korean community in Europe contributing enormously to the rich cultural diversity of the borough.

This annual Kingston Korea Festival is one of the premier cultural events in Kingston, bringing together a broad array of local businesses, community groups and individual volunteers from the Korean community in a joint celebration of their unique heritage. In June this year I had the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful musical the Phitharmonia Orchestra at the Korea/UK Year of Culture Closing Concert at the Royal Festival Hall. I also had the pleasure of attending the 64th British Korean War Veterans Remembrance Day event and the 73rd Korean Liberation Day celebrations which showcased some of the traditional Korean music and dance performances. These cultural and social activities illustrate the strong contribution you make to the cultural life of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
I wish the festival all the success and would like to extend my sincere thanks and congratulations to the organisers, participants, sponsors and volunteers for their untiring effort to make this a memorable and enjoyable event for everyone.

Cllr Thay Thayalan The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
