While it’s a huge treat that there’s so much in the way of interesting performances involving UK-based Koreans nowadays, it’s a shame that sometimes they clash with each other. Hyelim Kim’s recent collaboration with Merit Ariane at LSO St Luke’s was something I’d definitely have gone to… if it hadn’t been for Jinyeob Cha’s performance of Bongsu Park’s Dream Ritual happening the same evening over in Notting Hill Gate.
Merit Ariane, who comes from a German Egyptian background, introduces the LSO St Luke’s collaboration, entitled Birdsong and Borders, in this brief video:
I love her singing, that forms the haunting background music to the video.
Sounds like I missed a real treat.
