Damilola Eniola presents the fruition of her work in Sound and Music’s New Voices programme: an exhibition, combining both visual artwork and sound. There will be electronic music representing each artwork that people can listen to either at the exhibition or online. At the private view there will be a live performance where her composition – for percussion, cello, yangqin, daegeum and geoumungo – will be performed in full.

A new way to experience art and music with a hi-tech twist. Bursts of sounds, triggered by the scan of a QR code; giving a new perspective to viewing art pieces. Hoping to give visitors an intimate and immersive experience though the use of your phone.
The project “Han” is one which Dami was able to put together with the support of New Voices (Sound and Music) as she was picked as one of the composer’s on the programme. Han is a word which has very deep meaning to her.
The word Han is a Korean word which explores sentiments of the Korean people such as joy, sadness, happiness, love, loss and emotions faced during one’s lifetime.
As a result she has decided to focus on this word as an inspiration for this project. She feels it does not relate to one group of people but feel every living person goes through it during their life at one point of time or the other. She has therefore decided to put her own sentiments which have been heavily influenced by her journey through the music world which she decided on the path 6 years ago, travels to South Korea as a student and interactions with various musicians.
Her “Han” into her music and also through various artworks.
Please join me in experiencing this new journey of a world where emotions can be spoken through a very exciting context.
This event is the culmination of Sound and Music’s Talent Development scheme, New Voices 2018, on which Gugak Sound has been a participating composer. The programme is supported generously by Arts Council England, Garrick Club Charitable Trust, RVW Trust, PRS Foundation, The London Community Foundation, and The Cockayne Foundation.
