The first concert in the Critics’ Choice strand introduces us to Coreyah, who came to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 but as far as I know have not otherwise performed in the UK.

Coreyah are a psychedelic Korean folk music group, integrating traditional Korean instruments, vocals, guitar, and percussion and pioneer a new style of Korean music that blends genres of contemporary ethnic and popular sounds while still maintaining the distinctive characteristics of traditional Korean instruments. The group’s unique freewheeling vision combines a variety of influences, from pop and Anglo-American rock, to Balkan, South American, and African flavours.
2020 marks their 10th anniversary, spreading the passion for Korean culture, and playing NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
The band is chocked full of gifted musicians, consisting of Dong Kun Kim (daegeum, sogeum, tungso), Boyoung Ham (vocal), Cho Rong Kim (percussion), Kyungyi (percussion), Sunjin Na (geomungo), and Jaehyeon Ko (guitar).
