A whistle-stop archaeology and history of Korea: from the Palaeolithic to the Three Kingdoms Period

Presentation by Hari Blackmore
Hosted by Martin Uden – Chairman of the BKS
Thursday 18th February 2021, 6.30pm Via Zoom | Register here

Three KingdomsHari Blackmore recently completed a PhD in Archaeology at the University of Cambridge. His thesis examined the socio-political organisation of Mahan and subsequent Baekje state formation during the early 1st millennium AD. Before starting his doctoral work in 2015, he spent five years living, working, and studying in Korea, completing an MA in Archaeology at Seoul National University.

He will give an overview of what we know about the prehistory of the Korean peninsula, but perhaps spend more time on the Three Kingdoms Period. He will talk about the distinct cultures of the different societies during that period, and the sequence of events leading to unification under Silla.

Hari will talk for around twenty minutes. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
