Welcome to 4482[SASAPARI] Art Talk series!
The theme of ‘K-Art Now’ this year is ‘Colour and Material’. Please join us for an engaging artist talk with Woo Jin, a Seoul-born mixed-media artist who blends textiles and embroidery to explore the intersection of art and craft. A graduate of the Royal College of Art with an MA in Textiles, Woo Jin draws inspiration from her East Asian heritage, weaving narratives from mythology, folk culture, and shamanism into her unique storytelling through fabric and thread.
In this talk, Woo Jin will discuss her imaginative process, where she envisions a world filled with non-human beings, demigods, and mythological creatures, influenced by the writings of Ursula Le Guin, Anna Tsing, and Donna Haraway. Discover how she challenges the boundaries of traditional embroidery, moving fluidly between sculptural forms and tapestry, to create works that are both tactile and deeply reflective of her cultural roots.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from an artist who is redefining the possibilities of textile art and weaving new worlds through her craft.
