Already billed by the Evening Standard as one of the “best new London restaurants opening in 2015“, Judy Joo’s new restaurant, Jinjuu, has its official opening next week (13 January) at 15 Kingly Street London W1B 5PS (though it has a “soft launch” at the end of this week). The Daily Telegraph and the Londonist […]
I try to avoid Gangnam and Seocho if I possibly can, other than as the location of the Nambu bus terminal. But at least now if I do get stuck there The Culture Trip has provided a list of the top 10 restaurants in the area.
LKL is delighted to hear of a new venture specialising in bringing the best 녹차 to Britain. Kevin Church, the man behind the venture, introduces White Mountain Tea Company. If you’ve read Philip’s article on his trip to Hadong Tea Festival, you’ll already know a bit about the history of tea in Korea, how it’s […]
One of my top tips for London is Postcard Teas, tucked away in Dering Street, close to Bond Street and Oxford Circus. The genial and knowledgeable proprieter Timothy D’Offay sources his teas from small family estates using traditional tea growing methods, and the impressive list includes fine teas from China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, India, Sri […]
The staff at the KCC have been getting excited about this for a while, and now the opening date is getting nearer: Kimchee, the popular Korean restaurant in Holborn affiliated to the Wasabi Japanese food chain, is opening two takeaways, one at 388 Strand WC2 (near Covent Garden) on 2 April, and the other at […]
If you’re in the Bethnal Green area, check out Hurwundeki (허운데기), an interesting combination of hairdresser, boutique and cafe right next door to Cambridge Heath Station (298-299 Cambridge Heath Road, E2 9HA). Korean owned, the cafe is a pleasant, casual eaterie which does good coffee and a fine bibimbap among other things. Convenient for when […]
Last year a Michelin star was awarded to Danji in Hell’s Kitchen; this year Jungsik in Tribeca joins the prestigious club, according to the Chosun Ilbo. Interesting that neither restaurant is in Manhattan’s official K-town centring on 32nd Street. Jungsik is reviewed in the New York Times here.
If you google “Bibigo London” you’ll find lots of job adverts for the new London branch of the international Bibigo restaurant chain run by CJ Foodville. It opens this summer in Great Marlborough Street with staff training planned for July. The top job is already taken: the London operation will be headed by Korean celebrity […]
K-pop supremo Park Jin Young branches out from the Kpop business to open a posh Korean restaurant in Manhattan called Kristalbelli (8 West 36th Street). Must try it next time I’m in NYC. http://bit.ly/HpeMtH

Kimchee Holborn is the latest Korean restaurant to make a splash in London. It opened in April this year and seems to have been busy ever since. There are many things which mark it out from the crowd. Here’s a few of them: Décor: They’ve spent lots of money on the look and feel of […]
A couple of years ago the BBC was speculating that Deptford, a neglected corner of South-East London next to Greenwich, was becoming the new Paris: ancient churches, markets, pavement cafes and the Laban Dance Centre combine to create a cultural zone that’s well worth a visit, while the Deptford Dame and Deptford is… blogs provide […]
Next time I’m in NYC I’ll be heading over to Hell’s Kitchen for Danji‘s Michelin-starred bulgogi sliders. http://t.co/CcOToF91

Mmm – English-style scones with Jeju-do tangerine marmalade looks rather good, with a nice pot of darjeeling. http://bit.ly/o5SBB4 (#)
