Park Jiha

The music of composer / performer Park Jiha blends classical minimalism and improvised music using traditional Korean instruments like the Piri (double-reed bamboo flute), Saenghwang (bamboo mouth organ), and Yanggeum (hammered dulcimer).

Deftly combining the instrumentation and complex expression of traditional textures with an array of contemporary forms and sounds, around which she has developed a sound of her own.

Her last album, The Gleam, takes us through an immersive sound experience at an emotional level picturing the interference we have with Light throughout the day. The Guardian says, “The beauty of Jiha’s work lies in the spaces she leaves”. She has been touring the album in places including the Barbican Centre, Cafe OTO, MODE TOKYO (JP), Blank Forms (US), The Lab (US), Monheim Triennale (DE) and much more. In this series of concerts she will play music from both The Gleam and her new album All Living Things (Glitterbeat records, released February 2025)
