Bae Jungmi at Lapkoff Fine Art

A press release just received about an exhibition now on:

narcissist2Lapkoff Fine Art announces the opening of its new art exhibition, Jungmi Bae: Recent Works. The exhibition will take place from February 20th to March 1st at 17 Seymour Place in Marylebone and is open each day from noon until 6pm.

The oil paintings on display depict flowers reflected by mirrors and in water. The pale colours and soft brushwork create a mood that is languid and sensual. Bae explains that she “imagines paradise through the depiction of nature.” For Bae, the quest for beauty is paramount, and the wet blossoms in the new series shimmer with it.

Fifteen medium and large-sized paintings will be on display and available for purchase as part of the exhibition.

Bae completed a BFA at Kookmin University in Korea, during the course of which she won both First Prize in the Korean Contemporary Printmakers Association Competition and Commendation in the National University Art Competition. In 2007, she completed the MFA program at Chelsea College of Art and Design and has shown work in several of group exhibitions in London. This is her first solo show.

The exhibition is made possible by the generous support of the Portman Estate. More information and images can be found on the Lapkoff Fine Art website, www.lapkofffineart.com.

Bae exhibited in North London in September 2007. Read Beccy Kennedy’s review of that show.
