Korea Rocks profile #4: Gate Flowers

Four top bands are coming to the UK this month as part of the Korea Rocks tour presented by Hyundai Card Music. Here’s a profile of Gate Flowers:

Playing a mix of hard rock and alternative rock, Korean quartet Gate Flowers’ debut eponymous EP netted them the government-sponsored Hello Rookie prize for being the most promising new band in 2010 and both the Rookie of the Year and Best Rock Song trophies at the 2011 Korean Music Awards.

In 2011, the group appeared on Top Band – a Korean televised talent competition for bands. Making it to the semi-finals of Top Band, their involvement with the show caused a huge spike in their popularity. In 2012, Gate Flowers issued their first full-length, Times. Their “Night, Night” single from Times was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 2013 Korean Music Awards. In April 2013, Gate Flowers will be embarking on their first international tour for gigs in the UK as part of Korea Rocks. In early summer they plan to release a new EP.
