The Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK) is looking for artists of Korean origin to present their work(s) for consideration as part of our Spring Exhibition Open Call 2016. The winner will have an opportunity to have an exhibition at the KCCUK from 28 March ~30 April, 2016. This program is open to various forms of creative artistic expression and communication.

The KCCUK Open Call is an annual exhibition programme at the Korean Cultural Centre UK that defines itself as a springboard for emerging artists of Korean origin. The programme supports these artists whose opportunities of presenting their practices are becoming rare in the competitive UK art scene. In heightening the attention drawn to UK-based Korean artists through individual and collaborative works, the programme is open to various forms of creative artistic expression and communication.

‘2015 Spring Open Call' selected by a jury panel that comprised of Jonathan Watkins (Director of Ikon Gallery), Fatos Ustek (Fig-2 curator) and Do Ho Suh (artist). The winners were Yva Jung and Shinwook Kim.

Artists are invited to submit works that take on the risks of innovation, inquiry and imagination, using original observations, contemporary technologies and procedures in the process of creating inventive forms, rethinking the present and revising the notion of the future.

The aim of the exhibition is to showcase Korean talent in the visual arts, exhibitors will be selected by a panel of juries organised by the KCCUK. Once the jury panel nominates the winner, the KCCUK curator will be involved in the exhibition-making process. The KCCUK will be responsible for insuring the works during exhibition, organizing pick-up and redelivery of the work within the UK, installation and dismantling. A small catalogue will be produced on the occasion of the exhibition. The KCCUK will support the budget up to 15,000 pounds. This will be negotiated further with the KCCUK once the selection process is completed.
