Concert news: Joo Yeon Sir’s St John’s Smith Square debut

Two debuts from Yoo Yeon Sir coming up: she and her pianist Irina Andrievsky make their first live radio appearance on BBC Radio 3 In Tune programme on Monday 22 February, talking with the presenter Sean Rafferty about St. John’s Smith Square Young Artist Residency (where they debut on 1 March) and the new commission work by Sir Karl Jenkins. They will be performing works by Brahms, Milhaud and Elgar, on air at 6pm on 22 Feb.

Described as “exuberant oodles of personality” at Wigmore Hall by the Strad Magazine, Korean-born British violinist Joo Yeon Sir presents an evening programme of violin sonatas by Beethoven, Brahms and Elgar with her duo partner Irina Andrievsky alongside rarely heard Cinema Fantasie – ‘Le boeuf sur le toit’ – by Darius Milhaud.
