Born in Pusan, South Korea in 1984, MinJung Baek is currently studying at Accademia Pianistica Internazionale “Incontri col maestro” di Imola. After graduating from Seoul Arts High School with a high distinction in 2004, she was awarded the prestigious Mannes Presidential Scholarship for her further studies at Mannes College of Music in New York City with the renowned American Pianist, Jerome Rose. She started studying the piano at the age of four, and showed her talent immediately at her first competition when aged only five. She has won more than fifty times in Korean National Competitions, and has also had great success in international competitions, including the 2006 Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition, in Catania, Italy, which provided her with concerts playing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.1, No.2 and Paganini Rhapsody all in one concert in the Ukraine and Italy in 2007. These concerts and her interview were broadcast through the Ukraine’s national TV station.

As a chamber musician, in the USA and Italy she has collaborated with the renowned Modigliani String Quartet, the Tononi String Quartet, members of the Mannes Trio and the Manhattan Trio. She has played as a duo with American Flautist Daniel James coached by world class flautist Jacques Zoon and has won at the Concorso Umanitaia in Milan. Currently she has been collaborating with Italian Cellist Giacomo Grava.
