Sita Chay – Violin
JiHye Kim – Percussions

Sita Chay is a violinist and composer who won the 2017 Latin Grammy Awards in the category “Best Mariachi Album” as a world-renowned violinist for the album “Flor de Toloache”. Sita is the first and only Korean artist to win this award. She is also exceptional in her ability to absorb the modal sound including Afro-Caribbean music, traditional Korean music, Bulgarian dance music, flamenco or Indian raga.

Sita is the director and founder of the Cosmopolis Collective Cosmopolis: a multi-cultural musical project that shares immigrants’ journeys through art and highlight the similarities between different cultures. Major media such as New York Times have echoed the project.

Jihye Kim interprets her presence on stage as a “performer” and not a “percussionist”. Although she has practiced traditional drumming, her musical interest extends beyond traditional, experimental, improvisation, contemporary, and other genres not far removed from the main elements of Korean traditional music. She is also interested in creating unique sounds from natural materials, as well as electronic percussion instruments.

She was awarded the Grand Prize at the KBS Korean Traditional Music Award as a member of the “Ensemble Sinawi” group in 2012 and is the leader of London-based band “Urban Sound”

She regularly collaborates with dancers, visual artists and musicians in Europe and performs in prestigious galleries, museums, and musical theaters.
