Urban Sound

Urban Sound is a collaboration between Korean percussionist Jihye Kim, Chinese percussionist Beibei Wang and Taiwanese/Australian pianist Belle Chen, based in London, that combines the traditional and experimental with an array of Eastern instruments and Western piano.

They played their first shows in January, starting out improvising around their separate cultures and the links between them. Their music keeps evolving and they often invite special guests to join them. For this concert, Korean piri (small bamboo flute) player Seayool Kim plays with Urban Sound for the first time. Violinist Sita Chay also guests in the line-up.

[Belle Chen] ‘Original and provocative’ (Brian Eno)
[Beibei Wang]‘The young virtuoso Beibei is nothing if not flamboyant’ (Times)
