I always like it when a Korean musician explores the byways of British 20th century music so I’m looking forward to the Frank Bridge this month.

SunHye Shin is a South Korean pianist currently in her final year of undergraduate study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Ronan O’Hora and Carole Presland.

SunHye was winner of the 2nd prize of the Seoul Art Competition in 2016 and was a two-time attendee of the prestigious International Keyboard Institute Festival in New York in 2016 and 2019, performing for renowned pianists such as Jerome Rose, Emanuel Krasovsky, Massimiliano Ferrati and Sean Chen. In 2017 when the TLi Art Center in Seongnam-si hosted a commemoration of the 190th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, SunHye was chosen as one of 32 accomplished pianists to be invited to perform in the first ever marathon concert of the complete piano sonatas by Beethoven. In 2018, SunHye was invited to take part and perform in the East/West International Piano Festival in Shenzhen, China. In 2019, SunHye performed for Epifanio Comis in a masterclass hosted by YAMAHA Artist Service in Seoul, and consequently visited Maestro Comis in Catania for a series of private lessons.
