Less than a day after the screening is announced, it’s now fully booked. It will probably be the case that several of those who booked will not show up, but you can’t count on that. The KCC should really start thinking about getting a bigger space for their screenings, and maybe charging for attendance, like they used to do for their film festival teaser screenings.
We discover from the KCC’s Facebook post announcing the screening that this is part of “the K-Film Academy series”. I’m not sure that they’ve announced this series before, and it would be nice to hear what it’s all about, as the screenings this year so far do seem to have been a bit random in theme.
Those of you who managed to be quick off the mark, enjoy the screening. I’ve heard good things about the movie and it’s long been on my to-watch list. I’ll have to fish out my DVD version because I was too late to book…
KCC film night: My Mother, the Mermaid (인어공주)

Na-young (Jeon Do-yeon) works at a post office and is sick and tired of being around her shamefully unyielding mother and her pushover father who’s excessively nice. The only thing that she can look forward to is her trip abroad in a few days. But one day, her father leaves home without any notice. Her mother doesn’t care what happens to him and doesn’t care to look for him. Na-young has no choice but to give up her dream trip abroad and to search for her father instead. Once she arrives at her parents’ hometown, Na-young is shocked to meet someone she’d never expect, even in her dreams.
