Classic K-film in Berlin

Madame Freedom

Madame Freedom (above), plus Shin Sang-ok’s “The Guest & My Mother” and “The Flower in Hell” among others, will be showing at the Asian Women’s Film Festival.

The Asian Women’s Film Festival is taking place in Berlin from 19-23 September 2007 within the framework of the Asien-Pazifik Wochen which are held every two years in Berlin. This Asian Women’s Film Festival is being organised by the Korean Women’s Group in Berlin (Koreanische Frauengruppe Berlin).

The Asian Women’s Film Festival Berlin will be focusing on three major areas: The Korean classics from the 1950s and 1960s, current documentary films, and feature films. There will also be a symposium on 22 September at which Hyae- Kyoung Lee, Director of the Women’s Film Festival in Seoul, “will draw on her experiences and discuss the importance and influence of a women’s festival for the filmmakers as well as for the audience.”

More about this fantastic event can be found at www.asianwomensfilm.de
The English website is: www.asianwomensfilm.de/pg_home_en.html

There will also be a Korean shaman ritual on 21 September. Again, more details are on the website.
