Featured event
- The big Korean Festival takes place at the Fairfield Recreation Ground in Kingston, 15 Aug. After a break last year, the festival is back
Exhibitions
- Cha Jeongrye participates in a group show at Albemarle until 5 September
- Kim Ayoung’s solo show at I-MYU continues until 15 August
- Lee Seahyun’s solo show at Harewood House, Leeds, continues all month
- Crossfields, a group show of young Korean artists and designers, continues at the KCC all month
Film and DVD
- Heart-throb Lee Byung-hun hits UK screens on 7 August as Storm Shadow in GI Joe
- Third Window films release the hilarious gangster film No 3, and the Fox Family
- The screenings for this month at the KCC are Shadows in the Palace (13 August) and Son, my enemy (27 August).
Music and performance
- Unsuk Chin’s cello concerto is premiered at the Proms on 13 August, performed by Alban Gerhardt
- Hyeyoung Ku performs Storm and Stress at Goldsmiths on 12 August, with Kota Terao
Talks
- The second Global Korea lecture this year, Taekwondo Technology and Kimchi, will take place on 25 August at the KCC
- Prof. Kim Hyung Shik talks on ‘Appropriate Initiatives’ by Korean Development NGOs Abroad at the LSE on 5 August.
