Byron Wallen

We are proud to be part of this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival! We welcome back Byron Wallen to Club Inégales for the third time. He is “one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players alive” (Jazzwise Magazine). Widely recognised as a seminal figure in world jazz, he is constantly travelling the world recording, teaching and performing. The release of his critically-acclaimed Meeting Ground album in 2007 was followed by a promotional UK and European tour. His current work includes a commission from the British Science Museum for an installation called The Question Room.

Hyelim Kim

Our second special guest will be Hyelim Kim who is opening new possibilities for Korean music by using a traditional Korean instrument, the taegŭm, as a tool to promote exchange with a wide-variety of musical cultures. Kim obtained her undergraduate and masters degrees from Seoul National University, and as a current Ph.D. student in ethnomusicology at SOAS within the University of London, she is conducting research on the globalisation of Korean music.

Includes launch of notes inégales’ new CD “envoi”, homage to Miles Davis. Featuring Torbjorn Hultmark on trumpet (Sweden).

Advance tickets are £10/£6, available from our eventbrite website

House band notes inégales led by Peter Wiegold will also perform and create a spontaneous improvised performance with the special guest artists. Notes Inégales consists of some of the UK and Europe’s finest contemporary musicians.

Food and Bar from 7pm, Music from 8pm.
