‘Birds are free. They traverse boundaries, real or imaginary, linking the realms of the living and dead, magic and reality, nature and art. As more borders are built, birds represent what deeply connects us as humans, our childhood dreams and longing to be free and soar.’
Drawing from Arabic and Korean influences, this performance is inspired by the transition from dusk through night to dawn, culminating in an exuberant dawn chorus, a joyful outpouring of sound. The programme will include a new collaboration between Merit, film maker Jessie Rodger and writer Octavia Bright, featuring mesmerising projections, soundscapes and poetry.
East Meets West generously supported by the Reignwood Culture Foundation.
