Kim Kang Yong

Han Collection Gallery wishes to invite you to its exceptional Opening Night, premiering Kim Kang Yong’s work in his first exhibition in London.

Kim Kang Yong is a well-established artist in Korea. For 50 years he has explored bricks as favourite surface.

With his mysterious images, Kim is questioning our consciousness’s sense of reality. He tests our sense of perception. His paintings can be seen as windows opening to another world, where the structure of space is explored in term of meditation. Reflecting the Buddhist concept of ‘emptiness’ as the ever-flowing transience of nature, hiss work holds an element of surrealism, alongside the use of Italian Renaissance’s linear perspective.

A Colourful Brick Story takes place in between cultures, in-between spaces and is to be received without pre-conceptions.
