Tacit Group

Critically acclaimed audiovisual performance ensemble Tacit Group present tacit.perform[0] – a performance using a mix of mathematical coding and computer programming to compose a unique and riveting contemporary music experience live each night.

Tacit Group have been discovering the artistic possibilities of technology since 2008 establishing themselves as pioneers of algorithmic art.

Their immersive visual and sonic spectacle reveals the technological systems creating the art in front of them, allowing audiences across continents, from New York’s Lincoln Center to France’s Stereolux, Abu Dhabi’s NYU and now London, to hear using their eyes.

Tacit Group

Tacit Group is an audiovisual performance group that formed in 2008 to create work centred on the algorithmic and audiovisual. Their algorithmic art is focused on process more than outcome. They create mathematical code, systems using principles and rules, and improvise performance on the stage using the systems. During the performance the systems are revealed visually and sonically, so that the audience might hear using their eyes, such as the way we view “The Scream” by Edvard Munch (Norway, 1863-1944).  Visuals are integral to the work of Tacit Group as both composers and media artists. They hope by showing, not only the finished piece, but the process of chatting or gaming which generates it, they involve their viewers more intensely and break the conventional divide between performers and audience. None of their work is ever completed. They continually update the underlying systems and draw inspiration from their computer programming practice. As artists of our era, Tacit Group discovers artistic possibilities in technology.

Notable performances seen in a diversity of prestigious venues include the Lincoln Center in NY, MCA Chicago (Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago), MMCA (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) in Korea, Nam June Paik Art Center, Aarhus Festival in Denmark, Stereolux in Nantes in France, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Space (the most historical architect group in Korea).
