Novus String Quartet

Wigmore Hall regulars the Novus String Quartet – Jaeyoung Kim (violin), Young-Uk Kim (violin), Kyuhyun Kim (viola) and Wonhae Lee (cello) – return to London for an hour-long coffee concert on Sunday morning, 14 April, and a full length concert on Monday evening, 15 April

Following its foundation in Korea in 2007, the ensemble rose to international prominence through a series of competition successes and subsequently a variety of recordings that have garnered considerable praise. Two contrasting classics of the literature comprise the first of its two programmes.

A welcome rarity in the form of William Walton’s Second Quartet, composed in 1944-7, joins with Shostakovich’s Twelfth Quartet of 1968 – which flirts with 12-note technique – and Dvořák’s mature example, written in 1895 following his return from an extended period in the United States.
