Excerpts from Chunhyang: the Opera, at the KCC

chunhyangMany of you will be familiar with the tale of Chunhyang as a pansori performance, and maybe you were introduced to it by Im Kwon-taek’s famous film of the same name. The story has been interpreted in dance by Ahn Eun-me, and Hyun Je-myeong has created a western-style opera out of it. Excerpts from this operatic version will be performed at the KCC on 5 June at 7 pm by the Sol Opera Company, who are just finishing their European tour.

The programme will also include some lollipops from the Western operatic repertoire (Mozart, Donizetti and Puccini) and Choi Young-seob’s Longing for Diamond Mountain.
