In a slight but understandable change from the normal schedule, December’s director Q&A is on the 3rd Thursday, 20th December, not the 4th Thursday – to catch you in London before you leave for the festive season. But there’s still a screening on the 27th for those who remain in London.
I’ve had a soft spot for Im Soon-rye for over 10 years. Her Three Friends (1996) was one of the first Korean films I saw on the big screen – at the 2001 London Korean Film Festival. And she participated in the first and best collection of human rights shorts, If You Were Me.
Her screenings this month are:
6 December: Waikiki Brothers (2001)
13 December: Forever the Moment (2008)
20 December: Rolling Home with A Bull (2010)
27 December: Fly, Penguin (2009)
Tony Rayns has done a nice introductory essay on the Koreanfilm.co.uk website. Im Soon-rye rounds off the KCC’s Year of the 12 Directors, and what a year it’s been.
I won’t manage to get my Lim Soon-rye post up in time for today’s screening – sorry! (But I am working on it.)
20th December is too late already. Unis let out the week before already, so I am leaving on the 17th! I did see the film already last year, but pity about the Q&A!
