Jette Parker Young Artist Konu Kim, accompanied by Artistic Director of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme David Gowland (Piano), will perform the following repertory during this recital:
Schumann: Liederkreis, Op.39
Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen
South Korean tenor Konu Kim joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme from the start of the 2017/18 Season. In the 2017/18 Season his roles include Arturo Bucklaw (Lucia di Lammermoor), Mitrane (Semiramide), Fourth Jew (Salome), Voice (From the House of the Dead), Malcolm (Macbeth) and First Noble of Brabant (Lohengrin).
Kim studied at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, the Korean National Opera Academy and in Germany. Awards include first prizes at the Concours musical international de Montréal and Operalia, second prize at the Seoul International Music Competition and further awards at the Marmande International Opera Singing Competition, France, the G.B. Rubini, Marcello Giordani and Riccardo Zandonai international singing competitions in Italy and the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Poland.
Kim’s engagements include Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles) for Korean National Opera, Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for Theater Rudolstadt and in concert at Carnegie Hall.
