As part of Foyles’s Korean Culture Month, leading South-Korean author Jeong You-Jeong (Seven Years of Darkness) joins them for a discussion about her work and to read from her latest novel The Good Son.
Yu-jin wakes up covered in blood. There’s no sign of a break in and there’s a body downstairs. It’s the body of someone Yu-jin knows all too well. As the police descend on the suburban South Korean in which he lives, Yu-jin is forced to confront his memories about the night he lost his father and brother and maybe even those much further back than that. Exploring the ultimate taboo in family life, The Good Son is You-jeong’s first novel to be translated into English and has drawn comparisons with Stephen King and Raymond Chandler.
Following the discussion, Jeong You-Jeong will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of The Good Son.
