Only one Korean film in the BFI LFF’s schedule this year – a bit of a disappointment. But if there’s only one Korean film to be seen, this is probably the one I would have chosen, despite the mixed reviews out there. Song Kang-ho plays a movie director who looks rather like Kim Ki-young in Kim Jee-woon’s latest feature, and by all accounts the movie sounds like it could be as fun as EJ Yong’s Behind the Camera, in which Kim Jee-woon himself had a small role.
Cobweb screens at BFI London Film Festival
‘Incredible scenes play out in my dreams,’ insists impassioned film director Kim Ki-yeol (manically played by Bong Joon-ho regular Song Kang-ho), resolute in his determination to remake the ending of his latest film. With his cast and crew persuaded to do a two-day re-shoot, delicious chaos ensues as strict censorship regulations, the personal affairs of actors and the steadfast artist’s ego see the production descend into chaos.
