The Asia House website was down over the weekend, so I only have sketchy details of this, but on Tuesday 6 October there’s a travel talk which includes material on the DPRK.

Kim Il Sung StatueDoors 6.30pm. An evening of expert insights and travellers’ tales on some of the most exciting destinations in Asia, combining of practical advice for the intrepid traveller and stirring stories for the armchair explorer.

Seasoned travellers Daniel Levitsky and Jean Marc Flambert provide profound insights into the cultural, political and natural landscapes of North Korea and Sri-Lanka. Levitsky regularly leads tours of North Korea, enriched by his extensive knowledge of Soviet history. He offers an insider’s perspective into this intensely private pariah state, supported by a wealth of visual materials. Flambert is an expert on Sri-Lankan tourism and speaks of the natural and cultural beauty of the Island nation.

Daniel Levitsky teaches at the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, and writes on Soviet Cinema. Jean-Marc Flambert is an expert in Sri Lankan tourism.

Drinks reception sponsored by Distant Horizons.

If anyone manages to get there and wants to provide a write-up for LKL, please let me know.
